Character descriptions

Almar

Alamar Zuega is captain of the merchantman "Kaxtorplose", a mediumsized doublemasted ship, built in Esrolian style.

It is common knowledge that Clovis owns two thirds of the ship, and that Alamar got his share as warbooty.

Alamar is over his prime. Hair and beard is lightblond flecked with grey. His beard is braided in three braids, and he keeps his hair (what's left of it) short.
On his left upperarm is a tatoo of a movement rune.
He dresses in weatherbeaten leathers with a not too well concealed mailshirt underneath. At his side is a broadsword and dagger.

Quote:"Good wind to you friend. Might I show you a piece of interesting merchandise, brought home from forn parts? I'm sure we can find the right price."

Arvela

Arvela is a young woman with black hair and is fairly attractive. She is quite tall but of average build. She seems calm and at ease as she casually strolls the castle grounds. She mostly remains quiet and doesn't look around much. She tends not to approach people, but listens well when spoken to and will actively participate in any conversation in which she is engaged.

She is dressed in a foreign outfit which seems intended for work aboard ship, is blue and white, and leaves her calves and arms bare.

Carenn

Carenn is a slim woman with long brown hair in a thick braid. She's reasonably attractive, with her eyes possibly being her best feature: warm, brown, and friendly. She's a good listener, always interested in other people, and is widely travelled and well educated. She mainly works as an artist, and at present is employed as Arwen's new tutor.

She thinks of herself as being unprejudiced. In fact she's a bit of a snob: she's perfectly willing to be friendly to sailors, guards, and so on, but definitely sees them as being beneath her. She will respect anyone who is either educated or artistically talented.

She prefers to dress in an Esrolian style, with green being a favourite colour, but will adapt to the company she finds herself in. She never wears armour or carries weapons (unless you find paintbrushes threatening).

Chrétien meurtrier-de-guivre (killer of serpents)

Retired customs officer for Count Reynaldi of Tiskos, brother of Rowena's father, Archambaud.

Served 10 years in the Tiskos militia, then 10 years as Serjeant in the Remuneratique Royale, collecting taxes, enforcing trade agreements, etc. Spent a year on Lake Felster, but didn't like it.

Met Clovis once as an adversary and once as an ally, gained his respect on both occasions, almost joined his band, but fled Tiskos under accusation of treason. Stayed with Rowena for a while, she and Clovis met. Was unable to join Clovis' band due to ill health.

A detailed history can be found here.

Egil

(I've "corrected" Jose's spelling and grammar here and there: hope I got his meaning right. His English is still much better than my Spanish!) JW
A man of average height and black long hair. He walks confidently with his hand at the guard of his long sword. A scar disfigures his face and speaks of hard fights at an early age. There's no doubt that he is an Orlanthi, the long hair, the martial air, only in one thing is he different from the typical Orlanthi. He has no bread.

Maegrez

Pron. (may-gray)

A small, stocky man with a friendly smile and a twinkle in his piercing green eyes. Maegrez wears his dark, dark brown hair in two braids, one hanging over each shoulder. He has a short beard and a long moustache. His clothing is fine, and appeared to be of imported cloth and design.

He speaks with an Esrolian accent and his vocabulary hints at a country background with a bit of city eduaction tacked on. He is also able to converse comfortably in Tradetalk.

Through small talk it has become apparent that Maegrez is an ambitious import export trader with a desire to have his own fleet of trade ships one day.

Thaddeus

Thaddeus is a slight man of small stature with flowing shoulder length hair. His hair is in fact the first thing that people notice about him, for though naturally blond he dyes it blue "out of his respect for Magasta". His blue eyes are keen and his actions smooth and fluid like the sea.

Thaddeus is in his mid to late twenties though looks older. His features are weathered by a hard childhood and his life at sea. He is dressed in the utilitarian garb of a sailor, brightly coloured in shades of blues and greens, his only concession to this land-based visit being the shoes that he has donned. He wears soft hide gloves and does not remove them even during the banquet.

More details about Thaddeus may be found here.

Eric

Eric is a large brutish young man, with a heavily scarred countenance - the product of too many hard won fights.

His clothes are of soft leather, with little sign of the common sailor, more the reaver.

He is quiet and observes a minimum of politeness. He will allow conversation, but don't expect anything but a curt reply.

Jan

Jan is a broad, strong man in his mid twenties. He walks with a rolling gait, and seems uncertain on land in a social setting. He brightens up when he sees other sailors. His clothes are not of high quality, but are clean and highly embroidered, in a long time seaman's fashion. At his sides are two swords.
